HOST COMMITTEE NEARS 6,000 VOLUNTEER GOAL
The Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee today announced that more than 5,000 area residents have completed the official online volunteer application. As of Monday afternoon, 5,053 volunteers have signed up to participate in the Host Committee's volunteer program sponsored by Gerdau Ameristeel.
Volunteers will be stationed across Tampa Bay at airports and hotels, offering visitors a warm welcome and a helping hand during game week. Additionally, a majority of volunteers will be needed at the NFL Experience, a family-oriented, football theme park that opens the weekend before Super Bowl Sunday. Volunteers will supervise interactive games, displays, autograph signings and much more.
The Host Committee will continue to recruit through summer to achieve its final goal of 6,000 volunteers. A decision on a cut off date for applications has not been made.
All participants must be at least 18-years-old and will be required to work two four-hour shifts. Although there are no game tickets or volunteer opportunities available inside the stadium on game day, the Host Committee will provide all participants with training and an official volunteer uniform.
